There's now evidence of a significant interaction between Paxil (paroxetine) and Risperdal (risperidone).
Paxil can increase Risperdal concentrations four-fold...enough to cause extrapyramidal symptoms in some patients.
Paxil is a potent CYP2D6 inhibitor and therefore can inhibit the metabolism of Risperdal. Prozac (fluoxetine) and, to a lesser degree, Zoloft (sertraline) can also inhibit CYP2D6.
